The Heartbeat of Our Church: The Power of Small Groups

At Grace Community Church, we believe faith grows best when it's shared. While Sunday services are an important part of church life, the real heart of our community beats in smaller circles—what we call small groups.

These groups are where meaningful connections happen. They’re where questions are asked, prayers are shared, and relationships with God—and each other—grow deeper. Whether you're new to the church or have been attending for years, there’s a place for you in one of our small groups.

What Are Small Groups?

Small groups are gatherings of 6 to 10 people—sometimes more—who meet regularly to explore and grow in their faith together. These groups might be made up of singles, couples, families, or a mix of all three. Some meet to read and discuss a Christian book. Others might dive into a chapter of the Bible each week. The goal is simple: grow as followers of Christ while supporting one another through life.

It’s not about having all the answers. It’s about showing up, being real, and letting God work through honest conversations and shared experiences.

Why Join a Small Group?

  • Build Real Friendships
It’s easy to feel anonymous in a large church. Small groups help you connect with others on a personal level. You’ll get to know people beyond a quick “hello” on Sunday and form bonds that last through all seasons of life.

  • Grow Spiritually
Reading scripture or discussing faith-related books together helps you see things in new ways. You learn from others, ask questions in a safe space, and grow more confident in your walk with God.

  • Life Support When You Need It
Life brings joys and challenges. Whether it’s celebrating a new job or walking through a loss, your small group becomes a support system. You’ll find people ready to pray with you, bring a meal, or simply listen.

  • Live Out Your Faith Together
Small groups aren’t just about talking—they’re about doing. Many of our groups find ways to serve together, from volunteering locally to supporting church outreach events. It's a beautiful way to put faith into action.

Where and When Do Groups Meet?

We have several thriving small groups that meet regularly throughout Fairfield and Westchester Counties. Some gather in homes, others in coffee shops or at church. Many meet weekly or biweekly in the evenings, making it easy for working adults and families to join.

There’s flexibility too—some groups take breaks during holidays or summer, while others stay connected year-round. No matter your schedule or season of life, there’s likely a group that fits.

Can I Start My Own Group?

Yes! If you feel called to start a group, we’d love to help you get going. Maybe you already have a few friends who want to meet, or maybe you see a need in your neighborhood. We’re here to offer support, resources, and encouragement.

What Do Groups Study?

There’s no one-size-fits-all curriculum. Some groups choose a book of the Bible to work through together. Others might pick a Christian book on prayer, relationships, or living out your faith. Discussion is usually casual and open, with space for everyone to contribute.

Often, the best studies are the ones that speak to the group’s current life season—whether it’s parenting, marriage, work challenges, or personal growth.

Stories from Our Small Groups

“When my family moved here, we didn’t know anyone. Our small group quickly became like family. We laugh, pray, eat, and walk through life together.” — Mark & Rachel

“I used to think I needed to know more about the Bible before I joined a group. But I’ve learned so much just by listening and asking questions. It’s a safe space to grow.” — Diana

“Our group started meeting over coffee to discuss a book. Years later, we’ve celebrated weddings, welcomed babies, and supported each other through losses. I can’t imagine life without them.” — Tim

How to Take the First Step
