Tod says that a few years ago, though he had a relationship with God, and an otherwise fulfilled life, he was aware of a distinct dryness, and he knew that thirst was a result of a lack of fellowship with Christian men. He began to pray for that kind of fellowship and found Grace. Tod is grateful for the opportunity to offer this song to the men who Tod says are, “…an answer to my prayers.”
That line that Tod had placed aside has evolved into a deeply moving song that both celebrates the gifts of men’s strengths while acknowledging humbly men’s need for God’s guidance in using those gifts. Tod uses the image of a man’s hands to demonstrate how men have the potential for strength. A man uses his hands in ways that can accomplish authority, work, defense, support, comfort, but can also tear down and destroy. The song is a prayer that calls upon the divine strength of the Lord, by whom the petitioner is made by the divine hands of the Lord, to be a man reflecting God’s goodness on earth.
O come, let us sing unto the Lord: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation.
--Psalm 95:1

Man of Grace
by Tod Baharian
With these hands help me to build
To hold up and not tear down
Through Your word teach me to live
by Your Spirit how to love
I am just a man, I am weak but You are strong
I’m fashioned by Your hands
You called me from this world to be Your own
From heart to heart let me be Your face
Help me keep it real, make me a man of Your grace
With my life help me to give
and follow truth, not compromise
with my words teach me to bless
and in darkness bring Your light.
