Adventures in Missions
McDowell County, West Virginia

Years ago, when the coal mines in West Virginia were modernized, many men lost their jobs. Faced with little prospect for employment in the area, families either moved away or became dependent on government assistance. Teen pregnancy, drugs, and illiteracy plague the youth in this culture -- hopelessness and despair pervade the mountain air. Students should come prepared with air mattresses, a hearty spirit, and a commitment to make an impact on rural America through Jesus Christ.
